I’ve been giving a lot of thought lately to how Wicca relates to my former life of Christianity. A lot of people in the Pagan community tend to shy away from all things Christian—which makes perfect sense when you consider that, sadly, a lot of the discrimination we face does indeed come from misguided Christians. In my own former Fundamentalist (some might consider it extreme) religion, imagery of any kind other than what was printed in the publications was discouraged, as was the cross (out of respect for Jesus and doubts about the exact position he was hung, go figure). Being a visual person, this always irked me, and I love than now as a Wiccan I can engage my visual senses in a way I never could before.
But, on to my point: with many Christian beliefs being incompatible with the religious and personal beliefs of most Wiccans, is there a place in worship for Christian images?
The Goddess and God are central to almost all forms of Wicca. The Bible features no goddess, and God himself is said to be so perfect a human cannot see him and survive. It would appear that this would make it all together impossible to even attempt to use the imagery, but I’ve consider two examples that can manage to work Bible characters into the Wiccan creation myth quite easily: Mary and Jesus. I actually did not know this was a myth…!
I always thought this was true as well. Turns out the OP is accurate. You can read more information here.
People who really should know better believe this, too. I had baby squirrels raining down in my living room a while back (nest in attic + hole in ceiling), and I called a local wildlife rescue to find out how to best help them… I was told to dab them with vanilla to mask the foreign scent of human, and then leave them under a tree. I didn’t bother asking what to use to mask the foreign scent of vanilla.
(We plugged up the ceiling and put the babies back in the attic. Mama was quite happy to reclaim them and promptly moved the nest.)

Hello everyone, and welcome; thank you for joining me on this fantastic new journey.
My name is absolutely not Brigid Fox, but, that’s what we’re going to be calling me, as I’m using an alias. Deceitful? Yes. But, the magic here is, because I’m hiding my real name, I can be honest about everything else, yay!
This blog will be all about things that inspire me on my path to finding my personal truth. This is a place for me to explore and share my interests and spirituality.
If you like mythology, pagans, weird junk, hippies, peace, love, fantasy, and magic, then, you’re going to be quite entertained!
If you don’t, why are you following?! That’s quite masochistic of you, naughty.
We’re going to get along just fine.
